Deciphering the heterogeneous genome-microenvironment interplay in hepatocellular carcinomas
We aim to perform an in-depth analysis of intra-tumor heterogeneity in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) to unravel how the interplay between genomic alterations in tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment leads to the growth of heterogeneous tumors. To this aim, we have collected a series of 20 HCC with macroscopic heterogeneity for which several tumor samples (2-4) have been sampled in different tumor locations, and 5 cases with primary tumor and relapse. Matched paraffin blocks of all samples have been reviewed by specialized liver pathologists and are available for immunohistological studies.
