K Lebrigand et al. describe a new approach for assigning UMIs “SCNaUMI”  ( Nat.Commun. 2020 ;doi: 10.1038/s41467-020-17800-6), which allows the precise identification, from single cells, of transcripts and their isoforms by long fragment sequencing (Oxford Nanopore) .
